Tutoring/Mentoring is every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm-9pm.
A Typical Day
Grades K-5
5 - 5:15pm: Poems of the Day - We are working our way through Shel Silverstein's poems. We read 2 poems each day and the children respond by choosing one to draw a picture of the scene and write why they choose that particular poem.
5:15 - 6pm: Homework - Children work with their tutor/mentor to complete their homework. If children arrive without homework, they have dedicated time to build foundation skills in math and reading.
6 - 6:30pm: Snack and Free Time
6:30 - 6:45pm: Quote of the Week - On Tuesday, the children leave with a Quote of the Day that we've talked through the meaning behind. By Thursday, if they have the quote memorized and understand the meaning, they get the weekly reward.
Grades 6-12
7 - 7:15pm: Vocab Word of the Week - On Tuesday, we start the day with the Vocab Word of the Day. By Thursday, if they have the word memorized and understand the definition, they get the weekly reward.
7:15 - 8:15pm: Homework - Dedicated time is spent with the middle schoolers and high schoolers to finish homework and review lessons.
8:15 - 8:45pm: Dinner and Free Time

Good Grades + Good Behavior = Fun Field Trips
Our children work and earn field trips based on grades, attendance and behavior. Our field trips are built around learning opportunities and exposing the children to new activities, while also ensuring everyone has a good time. We have two types of field trips, planned and goal. Our planned field trips are our annual field trips and our goal field trips are chosen by the children at the beginning of each semester.
Recent field trips have included: National Mall, Frederick Douglas House, Haunted House, Ticonderoga Farms, Chuck E Cheese, Movies, Kings Dominion, Parades.

The Gentlemen's Lunches occur on the last Saturday of the month. This is a formal lunch for our young males to hear from a speaker and then have the opportunity to learn and grow from the experience.
